Metaphors
A couple of interesting metaphors in today's funny pages:
Are there any Methodists in the house that can verify the metaphor in the first panel?
Today's fun activity - incorporate "You're not the sharpest cheese on the cracker" into a conversation. Maybe someone respond with, "So, I'm more of a mild cheddar?"
Mary Worth needs some bitch-slapping action, now! Resentment has turned to pettiness and the best cure for pettiness is a good bitch slap - physical or verbal.

Holy Bat! Batman!
Today's single panel theme - percussive therapy with blunt wooden objects:

This really blurs the canine/ human line. For some humans balding is usually just part of the aging process (exceptions for chemo and poisoning) but for a dog balding is the sign of a fairly serious skin condition. The Pluggers disturbs me when it blurs the anthromorphization lines.
Yes, I can. I shall speak of the pompatus of love. Bizarro drew a panel using the same theme a month or so back. This artist decided to play a variation. Now, a different single panel cartoonist needs to work "pompatus of love" into their version of a gag based on Steve Miller's "The Joker"Posted by Toonhead at 1/18/2008 11:10:00 AM 2 comments

Sweet Tranvestite from Transexual Transylvania
She's more upset that he looks better in the black dress than she does. She should be proud of the effort he put in. Most guys would just put on the dress and be done with it but this guy went above and beyond. If you read Flight Deck you know what sort of shape the lead male character is in and can appreciate the marvel of engineering required to mold the his figure into that dress. This is a man that respects the art of drag enough to put so much effort into his costume.
After some reflection maybe the wife will appreciate all the effort but right now she is still irritated that he looks much better in that dress then she ever did.

I have a damn cold. Mostly sinus congestion. It shouldn't affect my affect my race performance too much this Sunday. I hope to feel much better by then. I'm not using all 8 cylinders right now.
Alice is my role model. I would prefer to use a blunt object rather than hurting my hands because my hands create such wondrous objects of beauty that - hey, the cold medicine kicked in. I wonder if beating an idiot's head would cause their underused neurons to fire? My higher truth knows that beating the willfully ignorant is best for me.
Dick joke! Dick joke on the comics page!
I find drawing hands challenging but I do work it out by using my own hands, visualization or asking someone for help. I can understand how the artist for Flight Deck can screw up the handshake. I do it quite a bit but I correct it when I figure it out or do something different if I can't get something quite right.
Enough with the exclamation points! This conversation is not that exciting! Stop shouting at each other! No, there's no irony! Just a dumb observation!
The irony is that Mary's higher truth is in direct conflict with every sane person's higher truth!
People come to Ella for advice, period! Mary, if you believe that what Ella dispenses is higher truth, then you have a damn shallow, meaningless existence! Go to a church, temple, synagogue, mosque, the woods or someplace far away from Charterstone and Santa Royale to gain some higher truth! Shit, yeah, I'm overusing exclamation points!
