We'd Like to Not Work

My career objective: to get as much money as possible in exchange for as little work as possible.

Drew has put on his total wuss war paint in the second panel.

New Plugger species! What do the owl people eat? Is this a night court?

I heard a nice affirmation, yesterday. The cashier at Blimpie looked familiar and she said she went to my church but hasn't gone lately because of a lack of transportation. I gave her my phone and e-mail and told her to call me if she needed a ride. Anyway her boss, chimed in, oh yeah, you go to that awesome church! That particular Blimpie owner has catered a few events at church and knows a couple of members. It was a nice thing to hear from someone who does not attend. Being located in College Station (home of Texas A&M and the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library), we sometimes get a bunker mentality. We are coming out of our shell. No need to stay in the closet anymore. People need us.

Heart of Darkness in Four Panels or Less

Your honor, that's when I shot her. I got tired of her misinterpreting my intentions. Combine this with yesterday's comic, I don't think a jury would convict Stanley.

Jeffy is a little too into this pirate game. Billy and Dolly's blank expression scares me.

A good question in the last panel. The answer, in most cases, is no.

Roger was helping rock the baby to sleep by reading Shirley Jackson's, "The Lottery" and adding some elements to make the story more interesting for the baby to hear.

Further down the rabbit hole of Ruthie's madness.

I've added Popeye to my comics list because of the Comics Curmudgeon. The storyline has become quite insane. I forgot to save today's Popeye with its inappropriate sound effect.

I did not update last night. I was tired last night and did not feel like getting out of bed early this morning to update. It takes a couple of days to get the hang of the time change. I have some time off coming. I need it. I've been easily distracted lately.

I would use this excuse if I were a bus driver or better, an ice cream truck driver. Can't get in trouble if the kids don't get ice cream. If the kids don't make it to school, big trouble. I don't think for a minute that they are learning anything other than the stuff on the standardized test but at least they are in one place for a while rather than roaming the streets.

I need to go clothes shopping more often so that I can understand this cartoon. I need to buy some new pants. Too bad the artist did not draw examples of "editor" and "publicist" style pants so that I can determine whether or not this will be one more source of frustration when I shop for pants. My pants needs are simple: two legs, fly on the front, the hem lands at minimum on the top of my feet, pockets, straight legs, waist lands somewhere between my navel and hip bones, machine washable, and not required to purchase accessories, peripherals or shoes just to wear them.

The best daylight savings time cartoon. I'm amazed that Mark Parisi can come up with this brilliant stuff day after day.

Who still owns a little radio without headphones? Maybe that's why the old man is pissed off - some kid using a transistor radio. From the balloon coming out of the radio, the kid must be listening to some form of punk bluegrass. That would make me take up my cane and start cursing at the top of my lungs.

Cartoonists cannot help themselves. The fourth wall demands to be breached occasionally. It's funny most of the time but there are some cartoonists that can still screw it up.

Today is my birthday. I'm 38 years old.

This one is funny because I'm a UU and a Hummer in the church parking lot would have to have bumper stickers explaining all this. I like Bizarro.

If only it were true Lio. The comics in my local paper is a half page.

Lame shriek of fear.

Ha! Mary Worth! The tables have turned. How do you like being a captive audience? By the end of this flight Dr. Cory will be on another plane to Hanoi and you will have bought the ticket. Today Mary Worth discovers forgiveness and redemption. By the end of this trip Mary Worth may become a full fledged human being.

One day I'll get the hang of the laying out picture and text in a blog entry.
