Walked 6,253 steps/ 4.68 kilometers.

Took the day off to rest from my vacation. I did not realize that fishing was so exhausting. Walter caught three fish worth keeping. The filets are in our freezer. My brother cleaned the fish.

Actually, I needed the day to get back to reality.

On the way back we visited the Caddoan Indian Mounds. It was interesting.

Back to work tomorrow.

Sometimes I get an image of a cartoon without a caption or a gag. Sometimes a vague notion of a gag appears but it is not as strong as the image.

I drew this cartoon last week:

I had a vague idea of a caption. Something about this lady contemplating a highly esoteric subject. A subject that a middle aged lady living in a mobile home would not normally contemplate.

I'm having trouble with this one. A little help from the readers would be nice. If you come up with a funny caption, you will have my gratitude, credit when this is actually published on the website and the satisfaction of knowing that you made the world a less somber place.

Please leave a comment and a caption.

Monday, May 23, 2005

Last week I ran 11.18 miles, burned 1,341.2 calories and weigh 158 pounds. Today I walked 12,799 steps/ 9.59 kilometers.

I was elected President-Elect of the Board of Trustees of my church. The congregation also voted to change use the term church in our name.

Walter and I had a good anniversary celebration. According to tradition this is the steel anniversary.

We saw Star Wars III. Why did Count Dooku look so surprised when Palpatine told Anakin to kill him? What did he expect from a dark lord of the Sith? If Obi-Wan Kenobi loved Anakin like a brother, why didn't he end his suffering? In a way Anakin brought balance to the force - 2 Sith lords, 2 Jedi knights - that is balance. Anakin does not destroy the Sith until Episode 6 then some teddy bears dance in the woods.

Tomorrow is our 11th wedding anniversary. 11 glorious years of wedded bliss. I'm so happy.

Walked 8,849 steps/ 6.63 kilometers.

God bless Star Wars geeks. They make Trekkies seem normal by comparison.

Yes, I will be a good little geek and see Revenge of the Sith this weekend. Must do my part to make George Lucas rich.

Listening to "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"

Why do I bother? Sometimes I feel like venting but by the time I get home and actually open up Blogger - the frustration is gone. Frustration has a way of disappearing at 5:00 pm. I don't take it home or to the gym. Heck, I don't even take it to lunch. The job is just something I do in exchange for money so that I can do things I enjoy.

Either I have a higher tolerance for stress or my job is not really as stressful as my co-workers make it out to be. My high school English teacher would cringe if she read that last sentence. Two years of the finest instruction that state of Texas can offer and I write this crap. Use active voice not passive.

Having had the active voice thing drilled into me does not enhance my gag writing skills. Sometimes, it is funnier in passive voice.

Eww.

I should imitate the average blogger and not proofread the stuff I type. I understand that content is more important than grammar, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling. The "old person" in me would counter, "How can I understand your content if you refuse to follow the rules of grammar, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling?"

Not coming across as ignorant is just so uncool. That's okay, I'll crush you. More of earth's limited resources for me. Ha!

Listening to "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys

Found some blog things and posted them in the previous entries. Fun but pointless things.

I'm going out of my head over you.

I walked 10,252 steps/ 7.68 kilometers.

I slept real well last night. I was not too groggy this morning, although I hit the snooze button 4 times.

Chammoile tea works wonders. Sleeping pills even more wonders. Put the two together - makes for a good night's sleep. If Walter snored last night, I did not know it.

Time to harvest.

Wednesday, May 11, 2005

I walked 10,967 steps/ 8.22 kilometers.

I've got the volume set on my alarm. It woke me up.

The local radio stations suck, especially in the morning. Who in their right mind finds DJ chatter amusing? If wanted to listen to talking, I would listen to NPR. The only DJ chatter I want to hear is DJs screaming as they are shocked by cattle prods at every lame attempt at humor. When did 12 year olds become such a large market segment?

Apology for the day:
I'm sorry but I do not miss Sex in the City.

Wish for the day:
A radio station that plays songs that do not suck.

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

I walked 10,423 steps/ 7.81 kilometers.

I slept through my alarm this morning. I turned up the volume so hopefully that won't happen again.

I got a free breakfast at Sonic. They did not have tater tots so I received the rest of my meal for free. Pretty good beginning for the day.

Apology for the day:
I'm sorry but I've never found Seinfeld to be all that funny.

Wish for the day:
I wish they would stop televising poker.

Red Meat Gold (Red Meat Cartoon Series)
Red Meat Gold (Red Meat Cartoon Series)

I took a day off for mental health purposes. Did not get much done but I feel rested. Yeah, I skipped a day on my website update.

I had a good visit with my mother yesterday. My brother fried some fish. Tarter sauce was discussed at greater length than tarter sauce ought to be discussed. I tend to blank out during those kinds of discussions.

I've been blanking out quite a bit lately. I guess real life is not holding my interest too much right now. Maybe this whole thing is serving the same purpose as the dream state in sleep. When I snap out of it, I'll be more focused and move on. Sort of a dormant state before the growth burst.

I hope the boundaries don't get too blurry.

Friday, May 06, 2005

Yesterday I walked 6,540 steps/ 4.90 kilometers.

I'm in a much better mood today. I received my official race results from the Parkinson's Association. I ran the 5K in 32:44. Significantly faster than the 12 minute mile pace I originally planned.

I still need a vacation.

Thursday, May 05, 2005

I walked 10,089 steps/ 7.56 kilometers yesterday.

I had a long meeting last night, so I went straight to bed after coming home. I updated the cartoon this morning. I contemplated taking a mental health day off but decided against it. That's a sure sign that I needed to take the day off. I had the brief delusion that my work is essential.

I hate this @#$%! job! The job itself does not suck but sometimes I feel that it is sucking the life out of me. Suddenly, brick laying seems a rather appealing line of work.

I really need to take some time off.

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

I walked 10,160 steps/ 7.62 kilometers.

I have the ability to hit the snooze button and resume the dream I was having before the alarm went off. This was not the super power I was hoping for. Regardless, with great power comes great responsibility and I shall use my power for good.

I walked 10,785 steps/ 8.08 kilometers.

The comedy well ran dry today, so I drew a cartoon about the comedy well running dry. I need to write some more gags. Actually put aside time to write. Now would be a good time except I'm writing this blog and it is getting close to my bedtime. I can't yawn and write funny stuff at the same time.

Walter played a funny trick on me. I sent him a very suggestive text message. Later, he calls me and says he is at the bank and asks if I am aware that his phone has a text message voice feature. A feature that reads a text message aloud. He went on to say that my message got the attention of everyone in the bank and that they would like to here the rest of the story tomorrow. He strung me along and then confessed that his phone does not have the feature that he was describing.

Friday I walked 12,494 steps/ 9.37 kilometers. This week I ran 15.88 miles, burned 1,947.7 calories and weigh 158.7 pounds. So far this year I've ran 247 miles.

Today was a great day. Had a great time in Sunday School class, skipped the regular church service to catch Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, ate a good meal and bought another Star Trek book. Walter rented Doom 3 for X-Box.

Hitchhiker's Guide is a great movie. Be sure to stay through the credits.
