The Secret
Off the Mark refuses to mention the secret...
while Pearls Before Swine has no problem.
I keep asking the universe for the power to smite. So far the universe has failed to grant my wish. I only want it because smite is a neat word and no one has invented a weapon that can smite. "I smite thee!" has greater flair than "I'm gonna blow your brains out!"
What complex carb is that?
I would purchase a t-shirt with the image in the last panel on it minus the narration. Just Zerbina holding a rifle and vowing to never watch Sex and the City.

No stupiding
Mary, you don't have a life, just a compulsion to give unsolicited advice. If you had a life you would not spend so much time meddling.
I want one of those signs.
Loki knows all his commands but only does sit.
My new scanner arrived and it needs a new lid to fix an issue with the transparent materials adapter. This is a common problem addressed on the HP website. Here's an idea; don't ship defective products.

Which came first?
I'm sure people in that line of work refer to themselves as cheese slicers. Machines probably do that kind of thing but someone has to run the cheese slicing machine. I bet the person who runs the machine has heard every cheese cutting joke there is. After 38 years on this planet I still giggle at "cut the cheese" jokes so maybe the cheese slicing machine operator really enjoys his/her job and loves to tell people that he/she cuts the cheese for a living. I would.
On the topic of UU classism and humor - would the hypothetical cheese slicing machine operator feel welcome in our churches and would we laugh at the cheese cutting jokes?
Great parody of Family Circus and playing with a semi-regular character.
The Egg McMuffin. I'm old enough to remember a world without the Chicken McNugget. I was in high school when the McNugget was introduced. I also worked at a McDonald's and know what a Chicken McNugget would turn into once it has passed its freshness time. It would turn into a briquette (a McBriquettte) when thrown with some velocity would leave a nasty bruise. It was unnatural the way the McNuggets would be fine at 19 minutes, 59 seconds but then suddenly turn into these little bricks at exactly 20 minutes. I ate and still eat McDonald's food but the short shelf life (7 minutes for a burger to 1 hour for a pie) of the food really bothered me during the time I worked at McD's.

Spring Break is over and I'm back at work. I really needed the break. Tuesday before the break I packed my running shoes in my gym bag. I got to the gym and discovered that I had one of each of two different shoes. I ran with the Asics on my left foot and the Nike on my right foot. At least this was better than the time I packed two right shoes.
I love the random fits of insanity that the characters display in Ballard Street. Not everyone's kind of humor but I find it hilarious.
The old needs to make way for the new.
Can Vera afford an apartment at Charterstone? She's probably depressed about the crappy apartment locater service she used. Probably convinced her that the cracked plaster is that "shabby chic" that all the trendy interior designers are talking about.
Send in the clones! With so much brilliance to choose from why is Momma, Cathy, B.C., Wizard of Id, Marvin and Drabble still in the papers? There is no reason for mediocrity on the comics page.
