Hopeline Video

Did not update the website last night because of a thunderstorm. The rain was needed. Saw Wall-E last night. Cute movie.

I was a bit of a slug this weekend. A time for work and a time for rest.

I decided I will open the church for meditation this summer. If someone shows up, we will sit. If no one shows then I will go through the items in the back room. Several books, tapes, magazines and other items were added to the Sangha collection. This past Sunday I reorganized the cushions and went through the books currently in the library and changed their labels. I would like to get the tapes on to CD or DVD (whichever is appropriate). I have the tools for a video tape to DVD transfer but not a cassette tape to CD.

I plan to put together a list of the books in the library. I took a snap shot of each book in the current library and will incorporate the newly added books in the coming weeks. Who would have thought that a cell-phone camera could be so useful?

As long as I'm fully present this work can serve as a meditation tool.

Meditating while wearing a hawaiian shirt

I have meditated while wearing a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses but never with headphones. I've never worn shorts because I generally don't wear shorts outside of exercise. Brother Dave has the right idea - he's wearing the sandals, why not complete the ensemble?

Discovered that I've made over 1,300 posts. Maybe I need to get a life.

Added a Spark People logo to the right side bar. I don't follow the diet plan but I use the fitness and food trackers. The food tracker has been quite illuminating. I've become more mindful about my portions and what I choose to eat. I started tracking sodium because I've noticed a lot of my food has quite a bit of sodium in it or at least I think the sodium content seems rather high. I've avoided purchasing certain foods because of the sodium content. I don't have blood pressure problems (104/51) but I want to keep an eye on things in case I really am taking in too much sodium.

This depicts my meditation yesterday. The monkey mind was going wild. Get back on the cushion and try again. Or not try. The cartoon is funnier given Buddhism's admonition against consuming substances that cloud the mind.

News Flash! Everyone's teen years were painful. Dawn does not know how to flirt and is starting to scare Dr. Drew Corey. He has moved from the seat next to Dawn and moved to the seat across from her. Even scarier is that people have come in, eaten and left since this dinner has gone on. People disappeared between panels.

Proud auntie moment: my older nephew was mentioned in Dale Campbell's 2007 Texas Football magazine as a prospect to watch in the next high school football season. I bought a copy of the magazine and scanned the cover and page he was mentioned. I will send it to the rest of the family. We are all proud of him. I'm sure he will live up to the "hype".

I was the only person in the Barnes and Noble that day that did not buy the last Harry Potter book. I bought a Star Trek book, an anthology of Tales from the Captain's Table.
