Canoe trip pictures

The pilings from an abandoned bridge. Any traces of the road have disappeared.
Taking a break from dragging the canoe down a very shallow part of the river. On the way back we found the deeper part and did not have to get out and drag.

I wear a big hat and SPF 45 sunscreen because I come from a long line of people who do not tan well.

The banks of the Navasota River.

The canoe is a 14 foot Old Towne Guide 147. It weighs 75 pounds. Its max carrying weight is 800 pounds and its optimum is 400. So far we've been about 50 pounds short of optimum. Either have to carry more provisions or take the dog. Perhaps try both.
